Ged Lawless FRGS is an experienced and qualified Mountain Leader (ML), Expedition Leader/Medic and Survival Instructor with extensive experience of leading expeditions, survival courses and field research projects in the UK, Australia, Africa, South East Asia, the Middle East and the Arctic Circle.

Ged is a qualified member of the Mountain Leader Training Association and was made a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS) in 2005 for services to Geography through outdoor education, expedition training and leadership development of young people and adults, in addition to working with indigenous communities in remote environments in Africa and Asia.

In 2007, Ged was involved in the initial Royal Geographical Society consultation and draft of the BSI Safety Standard BS:8848, for the provision of visits, fieldwork, expeditions, and adventurous activities outside the UK in addition to providing consultancy and training services to several UK outdoor education and overseas expedition providers.


Ged is also a qualified Risk Management Consultant with extensive operational experience as an embedded contractor within the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), OGDs and NGOs in the Hong Kong/China, Russia and the MENA regions including Israel, Egypt, Yemen, Oman, Dhofar, Lebanon and Syria.
